Pacenti tender license for P-Dent handlebar and stem innovation
Pacenti has announced that it will invite interested parties to tender for a license for use of its innovative mountain bike handlebar and stem system P-Dent.
The Cornish wheelmaker Pacenti developed the acclaimed mountain bike stem and handlebar system to allow longer lower geometry to flourish in mountain biking. With the unique design, riders are said to enjoy more reactive steering and a tighter, more responsive experience.
Pacenti is offering the licensed production and sale of the P-Dent Handlebar and stem system for ten years. The P-Dent handlebar is specifically designed with a dent that allows riders to have a shorter stem (20mm) effective length, testing shows this could be reduced to 15mm with a deeper dent. This is made possible by allowing the handlebar to overlap into the space taken up by the fork steerer delivering sharper steering and responsiveness. P-Dent is still the only handlebar and stem system that offers this approach.
Luke Humphreys, owner of the newly relaunched Pacenti wants to see the system flourish. He says “We feel that as a smaller organisation we have failed to scratch the surface of P-Dent’s potential. While we have had nothing but great feedback on these products and have enjoyed steady sales, we feel it’s time to let go and see P-Dent achieve its potential to reach riders who would benefit from its unique design.
“As very active cyclists ourselves we have spent significant time focusing on designing and producing hand-built wheels for all types of riders. Our wheel programme is the heart of Pacenti and going forward will occupy our focus.”
Pacenti state that as the interface between the P-Dent stem and the handlebar isn’t highly stressed, riders can reduce the stem length while experiencing a reassured ride. This is particularly the case when riding parts of a track with extreme forces like berms and heavily banked, high load corners where short stems normally create difficulties for riders. The P-Dent system gives riders that extra level of reassurance in these situations.
At a time when cycling is under intense pressure to reduce its impact on the environment, Luke sees this as integral to any offers made. “There has never been a more important time to make a difference to our carbon footprint and that of other riders and partners. At Pacenti, this is core to our approach in everything we do. We want to work with an organisation that prioritises environmental sustainability within their production and distribution. It is important that P-Dent makes both a positive impact in mountain biking and in the environment in which it is enjoyed.”
The application deadline for tenders is Wednesday 30th November 2022. All applications can be made via the Pacenti website.
