BHS held the official opening event and ribbon cutting for their new Development Centre, Arts Wing & & Theatre, which includes 5 Science Labs, 2 Computer technology and Robotics Labs, a Digital Media Studio, Fine Arts Studios, Recording Studio, Dance Studio and more.The school kept in mind the multi-million dollar facility will be shared with young people throughout Bermuda, stating that while that is not possible today due to Covid-19, they look forward to “opportunities and partnerships between BHS and other schools on the island, public and private.”

A representative said, “The conclusion of more than 5 years of developing, planning and structure, the brand-new spaces complement changes to the learning ethos of the School and show the altering needs and interests of women in education.

“In her speech, Mrs. Parker shared that BHS has a long history of excellence and customs and that the Development Centre ushered in a new and interesting method forward for BHS trainees, and for students all over Bermuda.She said,”Our main goal, at BHS, is not just to guarantee that our trainees enter into the university of their option, but to finest prepare them for effective futures, no matter what they study at university or what professions they might pursue.

“Responding to an ever-changing world and task market, we understood that we needed to buy innovation, establish our girls’ skills in the STEAM subjects [Science, Innovation, Engineering, Arts and Maths] and embed more inquiry-based knowing and issue resolving into our mentor.

“We likewise knew that we needed to expand and modernise our school and develop brand-new facilities to meet our trainees’ growing needs.”

Board Chair, Mariette Savoie, explained how this new center would benefit the broader Bermuda neighborhood, stating: “A school is not an island unto itself, it is part of a neighborhood. From the start, our vision was that this area would be shared with youths throughout Bermuda.

“While that is not possible right now due to Covid-19, I look forward to the chances and partnerships between BHS and other schools on the island, public and personal. I understand Mrs. Parker and her team are actively taking a look at how to team up in the future, so that more students and instructors can take benefit of the STEAM efforts used and these brand-new centers.”

‘Blazing a trail’ Campaign Chairman, Pamela Ferreira talked to the enthusiastic crowd and thanked all of the three hundred donors saying that “each one of you have actually now left a tradition for the future education of girls in Bermuda.”

She added, “Your presents of your hard-earned cash are a testimony to your belief and rely on this excellent school. You, our donors, have actually helped to empower our girls to enable their goals to become their possibilities.”

Mrs. Ferreira then contacted each BHS trainee to “take advantage of this creative environment and challenge themselves and their instructors and explore the gigantic possibilities for development and look for out the benefits of collaboration and most importantly to be entrepreneurial in their thinking.”
