Preview: Fintech Generations highlights financial services innovation across Southeast
CHARLOTTE – Participants and leaders of the Southeast’s growing fintech ecosystem will all join together this week for a two-day conference featuring both new and established innovators in financial services technology.
Fintech Generations, slated for June 11-12 at the AvidXchange Music Factory in Charlotte, features several fireside chats, panels, a startup demo day and networking sessions.
The event celebrates the fintech boom taking shape in North Carolina and the surrounding Southeast region, with Charlotte a leading testament to that growth.
The city’s banking sector is home to Bank of America and the future combined headquarters of BB&T and SunTrust, and its financial services workforce outranks national averages. Charlotte is also a known hub for fast-growing fintech companies, with $1 billion unicorn AvidXchange continually expanding its presence and workforce, and a sizable network of fintech-focused ventures launching in the city.
Fintech Generation’s organizers, Queen City Fintech, Finsiders and Carolina Fintech Hub, all aid in supporting and delivering this growth in Charlotte and beyond.
The event serves as the capstone for the tenth class of Queen City Fintech’s 12-week accelerator program. Eight startups will present their products and services to the audience, marking their completion of the accelerator.
The agenda also includes fireside chats with both entrepreneurs and banking executives:
Panels will discuss topics such as behavioral economics, distinctions between scale and innovation, the latest Real Time Payments (RTP) developments and funding methods for fintech startups.
Before the main event on Tuesday, Carolina Fintech Hub will host a free conference centered around insurance technology.
Insurtech Summit is geared toward insurance buyers, carriers, brokers, reinsurers and insurtech companies. The keynote speaker is AvidXchange COO Steve Boehm. A panel will discuss the intersection of insurance and banking, with Bernhard Klein Wassink of Ernst & Young, Dean Nolan of Fifth Third Bank, Jim McArdle of hannover re and Norvell Miller of Lapetus. The event also features two presentations from Sureify and Aflac about how they implemented insurtech solutions.
Tickets to Fintech Generations cost $499. Attendees can follow along with the event hashtag #FintechGenerations
