Ambitions:
This role aims to realise multidisciplinary collaboration with social and economic impact in the Amsterdam region and scalability to cities worldwide, by leading multi-year research and innovation projects in the field of Circularity In Urban Regions.
AMS Institute takes an integrated approach to circularity including a social, technological and scientific perspectives. The aim is to create a more inclusive and healthier living environment and to contribute to combating climate change. The focus of the program is – at the moment – on (1) biobased construction; (2) circular infrastructure & asset management; (3) circular consumer goods, especially electronics and plastics; (4) data, monitoring and decision support for policy making. There is a strong relationship and synergy with the themes Metropolitan Food Systems, Urban Energy and Climate Resilience of AMS Institute.
We are looking for a project manager for three parallel projects, starting in Q2 2022. The projects include monitoring, reducing and circular processing of urban plastic waste in a living lab; designing a reuse network for solar panels to combat energy poverty at the neighbourhood level; and accelerating the transition to biobased and timber construction.

The projectmanager is part of the institute’s broad Research & Valorization team of 20 people that works on the six themes of the institute. The Research & Valorization team is led by the Director of Innovation. The Institute is led by a three-person management team, consisting of the Scientific Director, the General Director and the Director of Innovation. The project manager will work closely with the Program Developers, Principal Investigators and Research Fellows of AMS Institute, with the partners involved in the projects and with the responsible policy makers of the City of Amsterdam and Amsterdam Metropolitan Area.
