Prospects for setting up China-Belarus innovation center discussed
MINSK, 15 January (BelTA) – Consul General of Belarus to Guangzhou Andrei Popov paid a visit to Foshan Industrial Technology Research Institute in Guangdong Province, China, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Foshan institute was established in September 2018 under the auspices of the Guangdong Provincial Academy of Sciences and specializes in applied research for the purpose of further implementation of their results in industrial production. The Foshan institute in partnership with the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus is implementing a project to set up the Chinese-Belarusian Innovation Center of Industrial Technology. The project was registered as a resident of the Chinese-Belarusian industrial park Great Stone in September 2020. The center is planned to become the main site in the Great Stone park for incubation and commercialization of R&D in the industrial sector.
A meeting took place during the trip to include the consul general, head of the Foshan Institute Xiao Renjun, and head of the Sector for Development of Cooperation with China of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Oleg Karnachev (via video link).
The parties discussed the current status of the project and further plans for its development. They defined approaches to interaction of the Consulate General with the Foshan Institute and the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus to promote the project among the Chinese stakeholders.
