Rush & Pallone Praise House Passage of the Clean Economy Jobs and Innovation Act
WASHINGTON — Energy and Commerce Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D- N.J.) and Energy Subcommittee Chairman Bobby L. Rush (D-Ill.) released the following statements today in response to the House of Representatives passing H.R. 4447, the Clean Economy Jobs and Innovation Act:
“The Clean Economy Jobs and Innovation Act will spur clean energy innovation, electrify our transportation sector, make homes more energy efficient, modernize our electric grid and create good paying jobs right here at home at a time we need them most. It also addresses the need for environmental justice by investing in grant programs for impacted communities and improving information sharing so Americans can be better informed about the risks in their neighborhoods. It is a net win for our environment and economy alike,” said Chairman Pallone. “What’s more, it presents practical and achievable policies that have a real shot at becoming law this year after negotiations with the Senate. I’m grateful to all my colleagues who worked with me on this sweeping energy package, and proud that the House took decisive action to pass it today.”
“Today’s vote on the Clean Economy Jobs and Innovation Act is an essential step toward bolstering clean energy technology and deployment through worthwhile, meaningful investment and reform,” said Energy Subcommittee Chairman Rush. “This bill will not only put our nation one step closer to a clean energy future, but it will also support the relief of environmental justice communities that are right now overburdened by the pitfalls of fossil fuel generation and need better access to clean energy and clean energy jobs alike.”
