SAP AppHaus Fosters Community of SAP Partners for Innovation

The SAP AppHaus Network is a carefully-selected community of SAP partners that have proven themselves to be focused on innovation and creativity. Composed of designers, domain specialists, design thinking experts and enterprise architects, the network leverages its multi-disciplinary skills and capabilities to create an environment where new ideas can flourish.

The SAP AppHaus Network is a global effort that spans five SAP AppHaus locations and 17 partner-run locations. The goal of the initiative is to make innovative solutions for SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP) a reality while keeping the main focus on providing an enhanced user experience. The SAP AppHaus Network is constantly growing and evolving, making it an essential part of the SAP ecosystem.

To promote innovation, all SAP AppHaus members follow the German tech giant’s human-centered approach. This methodology puts people at the center of the design process in order to come up with the best solutions. Consequently, by taking this approach, the AppHaus is able to generate more successful and impactful outcomes.

For the first time in three years, partners from the SAP AppHaus Network came together in person at the Heidelberg location to share best practices and test new methods of development. This was an opportunity for colleagues from all over the world to connect with each other, exchange ideas, and collaborate on projects. The AppHaus Heidelberg is just one of many locations where SAP encourages creativity and innovation within the company.

SAP AppHaus Network Global Head Birgit Fien-Schmalzbauer was thrilled to welcome delegations from nearly all of the global members to SAP AppHaus Heidelberg. Together, members wanted to develop a strategy for the future which is true to SAP’s vision of helping the world run better and improving people’s lives.

According to Fien-Schmalzbauer, the team put in a lot of effort to prepare for such a meetup, produced the material jointly, and worked on three significant workshop formats that were put to the test by all of the partners in anticipation for a possible future rollout to SAP customers. He further explained:

“As a result, we were really able to make the most of these three days with all the participants. Our goal was to create lasting value for the entire SAP AppHaus Network, intensify our relationships, and start new initiatives.”

Meanwhile, Andreas Hauser, Senior Vice President of SAP AppHaus Network shared that the network’s collaborative efforts with SAP clients and its global innovation endeavors in conjunction with the SAP BTP have reached an entirely new level as a direct result of the meetup. He added that the innovation toolkit that is available to the public already incorporates certain aspects of the newly developed workshop formats that have been evaluated by the network in the areas of sustainability, innovation, and communication.

“And I am particularly pleased that network partners have now entered into some collaboration projects between themselves as well,” Hauser remarked.

A Flourishing Community of SAP Partners in Cape Town

Last May, the German enterprise software giant announced plans to develop its first African AppHaus in Cape Town. The AppHaus concept was established in 2014 with the goal of providing a space for SAP partners and customers to collaborate on new ideas and digital solutions. To date, there are 17 AppHaus locations around the world, and Cape Town will be the first on the African continent when it opens later this year.

Moreover, SAP is currently in the process of selecting partners for the co-innovation space where SAP customers, partners, developers, and start-ups can collaborate to create new applications and digital experiences. The company is hoping to use the AppHaus as a way to encourage more innovation and creativity within the community of SAP specialists and customers in the South African tech sector.

Tracy Bolton, the Chief Operating Officer of SAP Africa, believes that the AppHaus is the next step in the advancement of the company’s strategy of innovating with clients. She affirmed that making innovation a reality and assisting customers in their transition into intelligent enterprises is SAP’s primary mission.

“This is done by applying our human-centred approach to innovation, leveraging the power of SAP technologies, including SAP BTP, and fostering a culture of innovation. The SAP AppHaus concept offers a framework for companies to establish a culture of innovation, focusing on the five key enablers – People, Process, Place, Leadership, and Technology,” Bolton noted.
