Seahawks news: Key players missing OTAs and also innovation

In Seattle Seahawks news for your Thursday, several key players have missed time at organized team activities. But don’t worry. It should all be OK by Week 1. (We can hope.) Also, Seattle is given due respect for being quite innovative.

Of course, it is too early to know if injuries will affect the season but it isn’t too early for 12s to worry about them. The season starts in just a bit over three months.

Of course, it’s also June now so we are in that time of overreaction to anything negative. But who knows? NFL could cut veterans this week so maybe the Seahawks will have Baker Mayfield as a QB by next week? But I digress.

Seahawks news for the beginning of June

Very important players missing OTAs

Possibly three of the Seahawks top six most important players started OTAs by missing them. DK Metcalf, Jamal Adams and Quandre Diggs are still rehabbing injuries and need more time to recover from stuff that happened six months ago at least.

In Diggs’ case, he suffered a gruesome leg injury but suffered no long-term damage. The hope is he will be ready for Week1 and not having him at OTAs (which let’s be honest, aren’t all that important to veterans) isn’t the end of the world. But if he is missing time well into late July, we might have an issue.

For Adams and Metcalf, the concern is less grave. But for Adams, he might have a shoulder problem forever as he has injured the same shoulder in each of the last two years. Metcalf might as well sit out all of preseason (practice, sure, but not play) because he is way too valuable for the upcoming season.

Innovation is the key

You like being a 12? Of course, you do! Now you have another reason to be proud. Turns out that based on Sports Innovation Lab’s study, the Seahawks are the most innovative team in the NFL. The study is based on three metrics: Revenue Diversification, Technology Enablement and Organization Agility. These are all big terms you can find more meaning to on their website.

All that said, the reason the Seahawks are innovative is that they want their fans to be involved and the team shows its appreciation for 12s. Sports exist because of the fans and it’s nice that Seattle knows this.
