Shadow Transport Minister speaks at logistics innovation event

Bill Esterson MP, Shadow Transport Minister speaks at transport and logistics innovation and sustainability technology event at The Barcode Warehouse, Newark Published: 05:00, 23 March 2024 A leading technology solutions company welcomed the Shadow Transport Minister, Bill Esterson MP, to Newark for an innovative event. The Barcode Warehouse hosted Mr Esterson at its recent transport and logistics innovation event held at Newton House in Newark, themed around ‘Innovation and sustainability in last mile delivery’. The event, on March 13, was attended by delegates from top-tier transport and logistics companies, and highlighted the importance of collaboration between national policymakers and technology innovators for driving change in the industry. Mr Esterson commended The Barcode Warehouse and its ICE Centre, and said: “It’s clear what an important event this is and just what a great job The Barcode Warehouse is doing looking after customers and having a facility like this which is a great way of showcasing the fantastic work, the contribution, the opportunities that exist in this space.” Newton House is also home to the company’s flagship Innovation and Customer Experience (ICE) Centre, where attendees were able to experience immersive technology demonstrations from event partners including if.Vehicles, Hubl Logistics, Mobile Tornado, Optimize, LEVL Telematics, Falcona Solutions, and SPARK EPoS. It also attracted new customers to the Newark-based business, with attendees making bookings to return for tailored Solutions Lab experiences. Hands-on experiences were also part of the event, including test-driving Maxus electric vans, a sneak peek into the behind-the-scenes of The Barcode Warehouse’s large-scale Managed Service operations and speaker sessions with industry leaders. Speakers included Jan O’Hara cheif exectutive of LEVL; Colin Ferguson, cheif exectutive of Optimize; and Bill Claire chairman of if.Vehicles, and explored topics ranging from AI-driven sustainability to the transformative potential of low-speed zero-emission vehicles Shadow Minister Mr Esterson used the oportunity to share a vision for the nation’s role in advancing road transport. He emphasised Labour’s automotive and industrial strategies, ensuring the rollout of charging networks in critical locations “ensuring that everybody can recharge with confidence where they need to when they need to.” Plans for renewable energy sources and expedited infrastructure development were also discussed, as well as underscoring the importance of industry collaboration, withe the MP stating: “Those are just some of the ideas that we have and they’re drawn up in partnership with industry, they’re ideas that people have told us will work with the right kind of support.” The event was sponsored by Datalogic, Honeywell, Samsung, and Zebra Technologies.
