SHEIN expands 2024 SHEIN X Challenge worldwide | Fashion Innovation News Europe

Online fast-fashion retailer SHEIN has announced the expansion of its SHEIN X Challenge to include participants from around the globe. A project of the SHEIN X Designer Incubator Programme, the SHEIN X Challenge marked its third anniversary this year. The competition will now allow entries from anywhere in the world for its 2024 edition, after previously only accepting applications from the United Kingdom and EU member states in its 2023 edition. The SHEIN X Challenge 2024 website is inviting aspiring designers to submit three full Spring/Summer 2024 women’s ensembles (top and bottom). The deadline for submissions is 15th February local time, with the theme for this year’s design challenge being “Radiance.” The public can vote for their favourite designs on the SHEIN X Challenge website, which will feature all qualified submissions. The top 20 applications will move on to the second stage, where 10 finalists will be chosen by a group of industry experts. Prominent figures from the fashion industry, including Adrien Roberts (international fashion education consultant, Italy), Julien Fournié (founder of Julien Fournié Haute Couture, Paris), Jill Wanless (editor, UK), and Colin Horgan (independent designer, Ireland), make up the competition’s judging panel. The ten finalists will have a journey that includes workshops on sustainable fashion and a masterclass led by the judges. At the SHEIN X Challenge 2024 final round, they will showcase their submissions, and the winners will be declared in March of the same year. Three submissions will be chosen for special honours by the judges, with each getting € 5,000, and the submission that receives the most votes online will win € 10,000. Each of the other six finalists will get € 3,000. An international runway show will serve as the grand finale. SHEIN revealed plans to give an extra US $ 50 million to the SHEIN X Designer Incubator Programme in September 2023. This pledge seeks to empower up to 5,000 rising designers over the next five years to establish their own successful businesses, bringing the company’s total investment in the programme to US $ 105 million by 2028. With over 4,600 designers and artists worldwide, the programme has launched over 41,000 original works to date.
