The Art of Innovation at Siemens IT

Siemens IT innovation: seize opportunities, take risks, and deliver value to end users.

How to create an innovation pipeline and winning ideas?

Meet Mahran Meissner, a Senior IT Key Expert, one of our ingenious minds who helps to create new technologies at Siemens and to transform the every day.

Being an expert in his field inside the IT Application Programming Interfaces & Software (IT APS) unit, he’s responsible for trend scouting the latest technologies such as ChatGPT, blockchain, metaverse, and many others. While doing so, he always bears in mind the ideation of new business solutions and products for end users within a corporate environment.

He guarantees that our business success is heavily based on the technology innovation power.

And how does he do that?

Mahran, who holds an Executive MBA in Business & IT and has a background in Electrical Engineering, has business relevant deep knowledge. He understands how to leverage new technology and cutting-edge solutions – to improve efficiency, increase productivity, and enhance the overall customer experience. Thus, his expertise is essential to build an innovation pipeline and winning ideas.

Siemens CIO Young Talent Award

Back in 2019, he received the Siemens CIO Young Talent Award, as a recognition of his talent and for his contribution to a special project that combined Siemens engineering, BMW, sustainability and, in the end, the Goodwood festival.
How cool is that?

Mahran developed a new technology for BMW i8, by collecting all the data from the car, stored it into a blockchain system, and then pairing with artificial intelligent and machine learning to optimize the ride and incentivize people to get rewards for saving CO2.

What he enjoyed in this project was the opportunity to understand how Siemens can really change our environment and challenge us to think of different ways to improve sustainability.

His enthusiasm to build something new every day fosters the desire for co-creation and cross-collaboration on a global scale at Siemens, both internally and externally, with our partners such as startups and vendors. At the same time, this will help him to identify new business opportunities and potential partnerships, and to maintain our leading market positions

Another example is the most recent project that he has been working together with our Global Business Solutions unit (GBS). The project’s goal is to open up a gateway into the industrial metaverse at our headquarters at Wittelsbacherplatz in Munich. The gateway will help enable people to create avatars, animations, and dive into digital worlds. This entry will also give access to the latest devices like VR headsets, powerful workstations, and walking robot dogs.

A virtual growing team of experts, developers and working students help Mahran daily, to translate new ideas into products and solutions. Every team member has the chance to grow together with new ideas and act like a CEO of in-house startups.
