04 Jan USTP Now The 1st “Metals and Engineering Innovation Center” In Mindanao

Mga higala! The University of Science and Technology of the Southern Philippines (USTP) in Cagayan de Oro City is now the first “Metals and Engineering Innovation Center” in Mindanao!

This was recently made official with USTP’s signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Metals Industry Research and Development Center and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) of Region 10.

The said Metals and Engineering Innovation Center (MEIC) aims to help students with metal-working and will focus initially on the needs of the agriculture sector in terms of machinery and equipment. It will also include equipment for food production.

According to USTP President Dr. Ambrosio B. Cultura II, “The University of Science and Technology of the Southern Philippines (USTP) is privileged to be selected as one and only State University in Mindanao to be identified as the partner of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-Metals Industry Research and Development Center (MEIC) and DOST Region 10 in the establishment of the Metals and Engineering Innovation Center. We believe that through this partnership and establishment of the MEIC we can create possibilities for the government, the industries, and the community.”
