Workshop nurtures innovation among fishermen’s children – New Sarawak Tribune
KUCHING: The EDU Workshop Academy Improvement: Bits and Innovation of Fishermen’s Children programme at SK Buntal here today (Dec 16) has benefited 350 students, all of whom are children of fishermen. This inaugural programme aimed to introduce modern technological advancements in the fishing industry to the students while leveraging the potentials of Internet of Things (IoT) development. The programme also highlighted various technological skills including the basic principles and learning of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) among students. Various modules are designed to increase students’ creativity and innovation based on the development of unique and creative IoT projects through the use of ‘EDU:BIT’. The workshop which was held for two days on Dec 15 and 16 was attended by students from SK Buntal and SK Salak under the Buntal Regional Fishermen’s Association (PNK), PNK Seri Muara and PNK Satang Biru. The programme was organised by Malaysian Fisheries Development Authority (LKIM) through the Buntal Area Fisherman’s Association (PNK) with a strategic collaboration with the Sarawak Agropreneur Association, and the STEM Student Organisation and Robotics Student Organisation of the Tun Abdul Razak Teaching Institute (IPG), Kota Samarahan.
