Xente, The Innovation Village partner to support micro-businesses during & Post Covid-19 – PML Daily
KAMPALA – Xente Tech Ltd, an e-commerce and Financial Services Company has on Monday, June 8 announced a partnership with The Innovation Village (TIV), a leading Launchpad for young innovators and entrepreneurs in Uganda, to skill and support small and micro businesses affected by Covid-19.
After months of featuring high-quality unique product items from select stores and merchants, Xente is now working to help support micro-business owners utilize e-commerce to increase their sales.
With more than 50% of today’s jobs requiring some degree of technology skills, and the percentage projected to increase to 77% in the next decade, The Innovation Village and Xente will empower and list a number of small businesses to the Xente platform by training and mentoring them into succeeding at making digital sales during & post COVID-19.

Micro sellers listed will have access to Xente’s 50,000+ customer base and as well enjoy special promotions like free delivery to their customers and marketing for their products.
“The partnership will help some businesses get registered formally & train them on such topics as business skills, e-commerce processes, business etiquette, financial management, business marketing, and how best to sell their products online while reaching the right customers. We’ll also see a jump in the country’s tax base since many sellers will be formalized.,” said CK Japheth, The Innovation Village Team Lead.
Built on top of their advanced payment engine, Xente will enable the micro-sellers to be paid locally into their local bank account or Mobile Money at their own convenience while offering financial services like loans to micro sellers struggling with working capital.
“With the yet to be launched Xente seller app, sellers on Xente will be able to self-sign up and start selling instantly on top of having visibility over their sales and inventory while tracking deliveries from their fulfillment centers in real-time,” said Francis Nkurunungi, COO at Xente.
There will be a special preference for Ugandan manufactured products to support BUBU initiative and customers can find the products using the Xente android app, IOS app, and website. Xente intends to feature & build a catalog of up to 50,000 Unique Product Items in the next four months.
Xente has previously worked with both large and medium enterprises like Lafarge, UBL, Rocket Health, Century Cinemax, HODJ’s among others. Some of the products featured in Xente’s shopping category include gadgets, foodstuffs, medical supplies, baby shop, various beverages, hardware, beauty products & more.
