Yale Innovation Summit Announces Keynote Speakers: Chelsea Clinton, Emmett Shear ’05, and Tom Steyer ’79 AI, Health, and Climate Innovation will take center stage with the keynote addresses at the 10th annual Yale Innovation Summit The Yale Innovation Summit, taking place on May 29 – 30, is excited to announce headline speakers for this year’s conference: Dr. Chelsea Clinton, Vice Chair of the Clinton Foundation; Emmett Shear, co-founder of Twitch, former interim CEO of OpenAI; and Tom Steyer, author, climate activist and investor. This distinguished trio embodies the Summit’s commitment to exploring the frontiers of innovation ranging from artificial intelligence (AI) to health and equity, and climate innovation. Emmett Shear: A View into our AI-Enabled Future Emmett Shear, ’05, was the founder and CEO of Twitch, the world’s leading video platform and community for gamers, which was acquired by Amazon in 2014 for $1 billion. In 2023 he served as CEO of OpenAI for one dramatic weekend. He currently is a leading thinker, investor and startup advisor as a part time partner at Y Combinator and will share his insights on the evolving landscape of AI. Dr. Chelsea Clinton: Championing Health Equity through Innovation This fireside discussion between Dr. Clinton and Dr. Megan Ranney, Dean of the Yale School of Public Health, will inspire participants to think critically about how inclusivity can be woven into the fabric of innovation, ensuring that progress benefits everyone, especially those who have historically been overlooked or marginalized. Tom Steyer: A Call to Action on Climate Innovation Tom Steyer, ’79, is a renowned investor and climate champion. Steyer’s forthcoming book, Cheaper, Faster, Better: How We’ll Win the Climate War, offers a unique and unvarnished perspective on how to fight climate change at a time of unparalleled consequence and opportunity. His talk will provide a critical look at the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in the transition to a green economy. “In addition to these three keynote addresses, we are excited to welcome dozens of leading innovators spanning biotech, arts, technology, health and climate to share their views on future trends and opportunities,” said Josh Geballe, Managing Director at Yale Ventures. “Summit attendees are sure to be inspired and challenged to think differently about the role of innovation in addressing the world’s most pressing issues and opportunities.” The Yale Innovation Summit draws thousands of attendees for two days of keynotes, over 30 panels, pitch contests, and startup showcases.
