Drowning Prevention Auckland Wins Innovation Award for e-Learning Platform | 360 New Zealand Ltd

We love to help our clients achieve their objectives, and we’re thrilled when we get to help them celebrate their successes. Drowning Prevention Auckland (DPA) took away the 2019 NZ Recreation Aquatic Innovation Award for their new and New Zealand first e-learning platform.

The Aquatic Innovation Award is designed to recognise the success of organisations, individuals, programmes displaying sustainability or business innovation, within the New Zealand Aquatic Industry.

DPA engaged 360 New Zealand to develop a new website that was easier for their communities to navigate and to include an e-learning platform aimed at educating the wider community on water safety skills.

360 degree video was utilised to enable anyone, anywhere to view and assess real life scenarios and learn what to look out for and how to stay safe when in, on and around the water. This, combined with static photography and videography, is arranged into easy to digest chunks and there are simple quizzes at the end to check for understanding. Once a user has logged in (for free) they can view and complete any or all of the courses at any time.

The online programme launched with 3 courses and 20+ modules and continues to grow. The latest courses added to the platform are delivered in te reo Māori and are specific to those activities common among our Māori community; Waka Ama, diving for kaimoana, and net fishing.

Here in Aotearoa we’re never too far away from the water, whether it’s the ocean, a river or lake. This means it is a crucial life skill for us all to know how to stay safe in and around water. So the team at DPA are thinking big. While the platform was originally developed for their organisation, they plan to collaborate with the wider industry to deliver drowning prevention messages to a wider audience all across New Zealand.

We’re proud to work alongside the DPA to help them deliver their message and ultimately keep our friends and families safe around water.
