KDM – MARKET LEADERS IN QUALITY, SERVICE AND INNOVATION
KDM – MARKET LEADERS IN QUALITY, SERVICE AND INNOVATION As we draw to the end of 2023 it is fair to say, the UK outdoor timber industry has experienced a challenging year. Following three years of exceptional trading conditions all expectations for 2023 was for a downturn in the market. As a result of monthly interest rises and inflation remaining stubbornly high, consumer spending on non-essential outdoor timber products has taken a back seat. Together with a slowdown in the new build and rental market the industry has experienced significant reduced demand. Despite the economic uncertainty KDM are excited and looking forward to a new year. No doubt there will be some challenges on the way but also opportunity. To take advantage of these opportunities KDM believe the key to increasing market share and building successful partnerships is to provide their customers with the highest quality products, unrivalled product range and a dedicated sales and operations team to ensure the highest levels of customer service. For the 2024, KDM are pleased to announce a number of new and exciting product lines for the forthcoming season. We have decided to introduce two high quality painted product lines. Firstly, an Anthracite Grey option to our Superior Double Slatted range and secondly, a Black option to our Square Horizontal panels. Both options will be held in stock at Wakefield and Bury St. Edmunds available for immediate delivery. After construction the panels are dried down to 18-24% moisture content, three coats of paint are applied, the panels are then dried and top wrapped for added protection. The rich colours will maintain their appearance for up to 3-4 years. The contrast of painted panels in a colourful setting makes for an uplifting and striking appearance. KDM’s range of hazel and willow hurdles continue to be extremely popular, and for the 2024 season have decided to add a top and bottom frame to their willow range, providing added strength and cleaner lines for a more urban appeal. The willow panels are still basket woven to ensure privacy, stability and longevity. For the DIY market, and to complement our 25mm x 50mm PAR battens, KDM have introduced their angled batten, measuring 32mm x 75mm x 3.6m PAR with rounded edges, machined to include a 15 degree angle, providing extra security and privacy. Over the last few seasons we have witnessed an increase in demand for high quality fencing components that enable the DIY enthusiast or contractor to complete any project in style and elegance. Due to the growing demand for high quality agricultural and machine round products KDM have increased their stock holding of creosote cundy poles and UC4 machine rounds available via their depots. All KDM’s creosote and UC4 products are produced from carefully selected slow grown pine and kiln dried to below 26% prior to treatment. KDM’s creosote products come with a 25 year desired service life and UC4 a 15 year desired service life. KDM will be holding their annual open days in Wakefield and Bury St Edmunds in the new year where all new and current products will be on display. Full details will be made available with their new brochure early December. Finally, We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our customers for their continued support and hope for a successful 2024.
