The Kerala Khadi and Village Industries Board has partnered with the Institute of Fashion Technology-Kerala (IFTK) to launch a clothing line geared at appealing to the younger population. Recently, a variety of trendy clothing items have become accessible at khadi showrooms all around the state.

The action follows closely on the heels of medical students, physicians, and nurses choosing khadi overcoats made by units under the board in various medical institutions and district hospitals throughout Kerala. According to P. Jayarajan, vice chairman of the Khadi Board, new designs in brilliant colours created by young people represent the evolving interests of the younger generation.

The board had also had conversations with several social and religious organisations to further promote the usage of khadi clothing.  A master plan for the board’s modernization goals for the following ten years had just been created by a team from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras.

The growth of fake khadi products from other states has been one of the concerns for the Khadi Board. The Board recently unveiled a new logo and urged the public to buy khadi products from one of its 150 showrooms spread around the State, where items properly produced by other states’ khadi boards are also offered.
