Innovative Projects Will Train and Re-Train Thousands for In-demand Jobs
The Ontario government is investing $9,324,830 in 11 new projects to train and retrain approximately 2,000 people for employment in Ontario’s auto and advanced manufacturing sectors.
Some of the projects test micro-credentialing as a way to help laid-off workers retrain and get back to work fast. Micro-credentialing certifies an individual’s achievements in specific skills and differs from traditional education credentials, such as degrees and diplomas, in that they can be earned more quickly, focus on specific in-demand skills, and signal the mastery of these skills to employers.
