Startup Moldova Summit 2024 to highlight the country’s technological innovation and entrepreneurship – Emerging Europe
This annual event, scheduled to take place on March 14, 2024, will connect local startups with international speakers and venture capital investors. The latter will be represented by GapMinder VC, EarlyGame VC, TechAngels, EarlyGame VC, Growceanu, White Hill Capital, Launchhub Ventures. The summit paves the way for cross-border collaborations and access to new markets, vital in the context of Moldova’s expanding economy and integration into international markets. Moldova’s President Maia Sandu will participate in the Summit. This highlights the state’s recognition and support for the start-up ecosystem in Moldova, underscoring the Summit’s importance not only as a platform for innovation and investment but also as a confirmation of the government’s commitment to nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit within the country. The startup ecosystem in Moldova has seen significant growth in recent years. The Startup Moldova Foundation currently has over 82 active start-ups registered in their database, covering sectors such as AgTech, InsureTech, and WineTech. In terms of funding, 11 Moldovan tech startups raised a collective 11 million US dollars in 2022, indicating growing confidence in the country’s entrepreneurial potential from both local and international investors from the USA, UK, Czech Republic, Poland, Ukraine, and Africa, alongside local business angels. The government and ecosystem organisations in Moldova actively promote the start-up environment through conferences, incubators, and mentorship programmes, creating a conducive atmosphere for start-ups. Startup Moldova, Dreamups, Yep Moldova, Technovator, XY Partners, and Moldova Innovation Technology Park, are among the ecosystem builders mentioned in the Startup Moldova community map. Enhancing the participant interaction at the 2024 edition of the Startup Moldova Summit, organisers have introduced the Brella platform, specifically designed to optimise the networking process. “With the aid of artificial intelligence, Brella aims to facilitate the establishment of valuable and relevant connections among participants, thereby enhancing the networking experience,” says Mircea Florin-Sandu, business development and fundraising manager at Startup Moldova.” Click here to view the agenda and watch the Summit online.
